Enhanced Task Completion in Copilot Studio

Building agents in Copilot Studio has always required a lot of manual setup. You map out every step, every input, every path. The agent follows your instructions exactly — nothing more.

This new experimental feature called Enhanced Task Completion changes that. The agent can now look at a task, decide what to do first, use the result of one step to move to the next, and keep going until the job is done.

In this video I put it to the test by building a real employee onboarding agent. The agent looks up a new employee in Dataverse, sets up their system access, creates an IT equipment request, and sends a welcome email — all from a single message.

I walk through the full setup including the Dataverse tables, the agent instructions, and all four tools. I also give an honest take on where this feature works well today and where it still falls short for real business use.
